Writing is hard enough without your inner critic running the show.
You know you have something to say. You might even know exactly what it is. But somehow, every time you sit down to write, something gets in the way—doubt, paralysis, the nagging sense that it's not good enough, that you're not good enough. You open the document. You close it. You wonder if maybe you're just not cut out for this.
Listen: You are cut out for this. You just need someone in your corner who understands that the biggest obstacle isn't the writing—it's the voice telling you that you can't.
Who I work with
I work with writers who are their own worst obstacle. Maybe you've been circling a book idea for years and can't seem to start. Maybe you're deep in a manuscript and suddenly can't move forward. Maybe you have a proposal that needs to get out the door and you keep finding reasons to delay. Whatever the specific shape of the block, the root is usually the same: You've stopped trusting yourself.
My clients come to me feeling overwhelmed. They leave feeling clear and confident.
Why me
I've been a writer for thirty years. I know this territory from the inside—the self-doubt, the comparison spiral, the paralysis that has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with fear. I've worked through it myself, and I've helped dozens of writers work through it as well.
I'm also a published author with a Big Five deal (three children's books forthcoming from Penguin Random House), and I've spent decades writing for national outlets, editing digital media, and helping writers at every stage bring their best work to the page.
My coaching is practical, empathetic, and direct. I'll help you figure out exactly what's in your way, and how to work around those self-imposed obstacles.
I'm also, for what it's worth, a lot of fun to work with.
What we do together
Monthly coaching retainer — $600/month
Two 45-minute calls per month plus written feedback on up to 2,500 words of your work. We start by getting clear on what you're working on, what's blocking you, and what you actually need. Then we build from there—accountability, manuscript feedback, proposal development, whatever serves your project and your process. I work with a maximum of three retainer clients at a time, so spots are limited.
Single sessions — $200
A 45-minute call for when you need to get unstuck, think through a specific challenge, or get feedback on a piece of work. Book one and we'll make it count.
Manuscript and proposal editing — $300 per 2,500 words
Ready for substantive feedback on your manuscript or proposal? I'll give you honest edits delivered with warmth. I charge by word count, so there's no ambiguity about what you're paying for.
